Proverbs 11:2 When pride comes, then comes disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom.
Quite often we have random questions and conversations in our household. Sometimes I am able answer these questions clearly enough that the gleam of understanding appears in the eyes of my kids. I proudly walk away feeling like I’m the authority on said topic.
Most times, the glaring light of confusion shines through in their crossed eyes.
It’s quite humbling.
Several days ago, I was asked a question about the Tree of Life. I vaguely remember the question now, but this was one of those many moments where I cast off humility because I had all the answers!! Oh! I’ve studied this one! I KNOW this answer!
After thoroughly explaining the Tree of Life from Genesis through Revelation, describing in detail how man had eaten from the wrong tree and effectively rejected God and corrupted our nature and therefore we could no longer freely eat from the tree of life and had to rely/wait on a savior to bring about the freedom from the bondage of sin and death that holds us captive until the savior that mankind is looking for came through the line of Judah from the nation of Israel that developed as a result of Abraham being called out of pagan cultures and given a people and tribe from the one true God that leads the nation where Jesus was born and after three years of ministry he died on a tree to defeat sin and death so the church could be born and the people of God could then partake of the tree of life that will be in the middle of the garden after God fulfills all his promises and remakes everything and we will rule with him in eternity where water will flow from the river that flows from Zion where the Tree of life will be located. (Yeah…that’s one big confusing run-on)
Imagine the looks I got after that whole soliloquy!
“Thanks Pa. Can we get pizza?”
Ouch.
Maybe I should go to Village Inn and get a piece of humble pie.
Thank God that He is alive and active and reveals to us just how much we need his guidance! He brought to mind a video resource that is the specific “answer” to this tree of life question. I’d like to share it with you this morning; the specific video, but also the full resource called “The Bible Project”. www.bibleproject.com
The video about the tree of life is: https://youtu.be/TJLan-pJzfQ
We watched it several times, talked extensively about the concepts, the art and the imagery; then we got pizza.
I pray the Lord bless you as you continue to be stretched. May he lead you to good resources to help with questions and further understanding. May you grow deeper in love with Him as a result.
